Ferry Ticket Types: Fastcraft and RORO

Ticket wording on Philippine ferries can confuse first-time travelers. This page explains the main product types so you can match them with the tables on the Ports & Ferries home page and the Ferries directory.

Fastcraft tickets

Fastcraft sailings sell seats only. Fares are usually tied to a specific date and departure time. Promo buckets may forbid refunds or changes, while regular fares might allow a fee-based rebook if seats remain. Baggage limits are stricter than on large RORO because stowage is tight on small hulls.

RORO and ROPAX tickets

Roll-on, roll-off ferries publish passenger tickets plus separate charges for motorcycles, cars, and commercial trucks. A ROPAX is simply a RORO that carries many walk-on passengers in addition to cargo. Your ticket states whether you have a bunk, a reclining chair, or economy deck space. Overnight routes may offer small cabins. Book those early during fiesta weeks.

Open versus fixed sailings

Some lines still sell open tickets that you validate on a later date, while others moved entirely to fixed schedules sold online. Always read the fine print on the PDF or SMS confirmation. If the text says non-refundable, assume you need a new purchase if you miss the boat.

Where to apply this on the site

Use the route articles under Latest posts for live timetables, then cross-check the carrier site before you pay. When you are ready to line up at the pier, follow the ferry booking and check-in guide for arrival times and ID checks.
